Artful Living in North Vancouver

Westcoast Homes & Design

While Anthem’s West Third development in North Vancouver City is a clean, contemporary interpretation of West Coast style, the Mondrian-inspired feature wall differentiates the mid-rise building that marks a key corner in the trendy Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood.

Inspired by Dutch artist Piet Mondrian’s iconic works featuring squares and rectangles in primary colours, the feature wall is visible to people entering the ground-level parking off 3rd Street as well as from the lane at the back of the building.

Located at Chesterfield Avenue and 3rd Street West, the Rositch Hemphill Architects- designed building includes move-in-ready two-to three-bedroom and den homes and 10,000 square feet of ground level commercial space.

The glass installation and other features such as expansive outdoor spaces, views and high-end interior finishes elevate the building and make visiting it a positive experience, says Anthem marketing director Krista Whitelock.

“West Third is a unique concrete boutique building in an area where there are a lot of high-rises and larger scale buildings. We wanted to include high-end finishes and an elevated offering for people who want to stay—or upsize—in the neighbourhood. Because the building is complete, people can walk through and touch and see exactly what they’re getting,” says Whitelock.

The 57 units (including two townhomes that face Chesterfield Avenue) range in size from 840 to 1,841 square feet. All homes have central heating and air-conditioning.

In the display units, the colours and materials showcase the neutral palette intended to enable buyers to layer in their own art and furnishings and personalize the space.

In the kitchen, flat-panel light woodgrain lower cabinets and matte-white upper cabinets complement the full-height marble backsplash, while the engineered quartz countertop with its waterfall edge adds a sophisticated touch.

While the kitchen benefits from the light streaming in through over-sized windows and the glass door leading to the balcony, a full-height pullout pantry, stainless steel sink with faucet and pullout spray nozzle and Bosch appliances ensure functionality. Appliances include a counter-depth integrated refrigerator and dishwasher, a five-burner gas cooktop, speed oven and wall oven.

In the main bedroom’s ensuite bathroom, the large-format marble-inspired porcelain tiles, floating vanity, wall-mounted toilet and frameless glass shower enclosure enhance the space’s airy ambience while heated floors add a touch of luxury. Double undermount sinks check off one of the items on many buyers’ wish lists.

“The rain shower head, the built-in niche for shampoo and products, and the medicine- cabinet storage are all intentional and thoughtful features to get the most utility in the space,” says Whitelock.

The main bathroom includes a soaker tub while Grohe chrome faucets and white quartz countertops contribute to design consistency throughout the unit.

The second bedroom in this display suite is a generous size and the nearby den is staged as a bar but could also be used as a comfortable office space or playroom. All bedrooms include blackout roller blinds.

“One of the unique features is the laundry room,” says Whitelock, noting that a dedicated laundry room is not standard in most condos.

The laundry room has a front-loading side-byside washer and dryer below a quartz countertop that is useful for sorting and folding and doubles as a place for a few decorative items to brighten up an otherwise utilitarian space.

West Third buyers have two view options: the south-facing units have sea vistas while the north-facing units have mountain outlooks.

“There’s something magical about staring at the mountains and [these units are] a real opportunity for move-up buyers or couples looking to get into the market,” says Whitelock.

All units have at least one parking stall and bike storage. Some stalls are pre-wired for electric vehicle charging stations.
